Comprehensive Plan Public Input Session

The Town of Oakland is working on finalizing its update to the Comprehensive Plan and will host an open house to solicit input from the public on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department. The in-person meeting will include a presentation on the plan development to date. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit stations to review and provide comments on the draft recommendations.

4th Street Traffic Pattern Change

Beginning Monday, December 9, 2024, 4th Street will be closed to north and southbound traffic between Mitchell Manor and Brian F. Thomas Drive and the 4th Street bridge will be opened as a single lane. This revised traffic pattern will allow Mitchell Manor residents with access to Route 219 at a traffic light, while minimizing usage of the 4th Street bridge until it is replaced in 2025.

The show is created and produced from scratch by staff of The CHIPS Network in Oakland and is sponsored by several area businesses, individuals, and organizations.

A public hearing for the ordinance’s adoption will be held during the November 4, 2024 5pm public meeting. The Oakland Mayor and Town Council are currently seeking applications from interested residents to fill a vacancy on the Oakland Town Council. This is an excellent opportunity for civic-minded individuals to play a key role in shaping the future of our community.

To qualify, applicants must reside within the town limits of Oakland, be a registered voter, and be at least 21 years old. The selected candidate will serve until March 2026, the remainder of the vacant term.
