Maryland’s Arts & Entertainment (A&E) Districts help develop and promote community involvement, tourism, and revitalization through tax-related incentives that attract artists, arts organizations, and other creative enterprises to towns and cities across the State. The Oakland A&E is a unique Western Maryland destination, reflecting the traditions and evolving culture of our community and welcoming residents and visitors to experience the best we have to offer.

Our Vision

Our vision of the Oakland A&E District is a welcoming, diverse arts community, valuing the town’s artistic heritage while continually seeking new experiences and opportunities in visual, performing, literary, and culinary arts, all to provide vital human respite and enrich the community’s daily lives. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Oakland A&E District is to revitalize the early 20th century arts for which the town was known and celebrated, by developing and promoting new experiences, opportunities, and tax-related incentives for area artists, arts organizations, and other members of the creative workforce.

District Manager

The Oakland A&E District is managed by the Garrett County Arts Council, a non-profit supporting the arts in Garrett County since 1976. garrettarts.org
