Accepting Applications for Wastewater Treatment Operator

The Town of Oakland is accepting applications for the full-time position of Wastewater Treatment Operator. The selected candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Town’s wastewater treatment facilities and equipment. Duties will also include maintaining and repairing water and sewer lines, operating heavy machinery such as a backhoe, performing sample collection for laboratory testing, and ensuring compliance with federal and state safety regulations. Additional responsibilities involve general upkeep of facilities and grounds, as well as accurate data reporting.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and possess a valid Maryland driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Prior experience in water and sewer plant operations is preferred. Class 1A Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification or willingness to obtain within 3 years of hire is required.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well with the public and fellow employees, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and work in varying weather conditions. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and willing to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs. A background check will be conducted before hiring.

Pay: $18.94 - $21.61 per hour
